Rodini Park -
The park is easily accessible by car, or by catching the local bus and sits just 3km outside of the capital Rhodes Town. You will find it quite busy in the summer months but its well worth a visit, even for a few hours.
Within the park you can pick up some light refreshments walk by the stream under cooling Cypress and Pine trees and even venture into the small local zoo which has been built over the past few years.
For the more athletic and adventurous, take a walk to the the tomb of Ptolemies. The tomb is just a short 10 minute walk and has been dug into the rock centuries ago. The tomb dates back to the Hellenistic period and it is distinctly Doric in terms of architecture. A cemetery known as the city of the dead was also built in the park during the 3rd century and even now you can still see the tombstones and carved figures that are several centuries old.
Some of the nature you can see in the park as covered above is turtles, terrapins, ducks and swans all carrying on with their business feeding and nest building. The park is an Oasis in this parched landscape and well worth visiting to see the amazing aqueduct and lush scenery.
