Faliraki Holiday Guide

Faliraki Bar StreetFaliraki is situated 14km from Rhodes town on the east side of the island and has some of the best sandy beaches on the island.  Faliraki is still the party resort of the island with a long street of bars and clubs.  Its is still a favourite for 18-30's and every summer groups of lads and girls descend on Faliraki for the cheap drinks, long summer days and hectic party nights.

Faliraki is not as busy as it was back in its heyday of 1998-2003 as the local authorities clamped down on bar crawls and general drunkenness that saw Faliraki hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons.  Even now families choose Faliraki as a place to go as the club scene is much more civilised and bar crawls are kept to a minimum with most bar crawl guests being in their late 20's rather than teens.

If your thinking of taking a Faliraki holiday then have a look at the guides, pictures and videos below and see if this resort is for you.

Faliraki - Nightlife

The first thing people want to know is what is the nightlife like in Faliraki.  Faliraki nightlife is very hectic and fun filled with cheap 2 for 1 drinks being served in most places with 2 bottles of local beer coming in at around 5 euros.  Most people head out around 10-11 PM to save money and head to bar street, this is the main strip and where you will find all the pubs in Faliraki, you also have Club street where you find most of the clubs in the resort.

A firm favourite of many tourists has to be
Q-Club with its 3 floors of mixed music including house, trance and pop music, great for those who want to try a bit of everything.  You’ve got Liquid Club which again plays mostly dance and the latest chart hits and BED which hosts celebrity DJs during the summer with themed nights like Hed Kandi.

If its just pubs you want to aim for, or at least find out where the best are to kick the night off, then firstly head to Ziggys which does the infamous HeadF**ker cocktails.  Also try Jamaica bar and Chaplin's bar.  If its karaoke you want then a few of the bars supply this including Bunnys Pub and Champers Bar.

Faliraki Daytime

The beach of Faliraki stretches for over 3 miles and during the summer is packed full of sun worshippers from all over the world,  the beaches here are clean and well kept with beach bars providing you with an assortment of drinks and snacks.

If you want to get a good spot on the beach its advised you arrive early and get your towel down, as most people will still be in bed with a hangover from the previous night out in Faliraki town.  If your looking for a quieter beach then head down as far as you can until you reach Kathara Bay or Anthony Quinn beach, due to their location and the fact its shingle and pebbles rather than sand these beaches are much quieter.

On the beaches of Faliraki there is plenty to do including watersports, like water skiing, jet skis, donut rides and the banana boat ride.  These are all available at local costs, and usually the prices range from 10 to 25 euros depending on what you want to do.

If lounging around on the beach is not for you then Faliraki has a host of little gift shops and souvenir shops with local goods and produce, many shops sell hand crafted gifts for you to take home.  If you have brought the family to Faliraki then try taking them too Faliraki Water Park or even the Luna park fun fair and go-kart track.

Where to eat in Faliraki

If its traditional Greek food your after then your best travelling out of Faliraki into the other villages and towns.  Faliraki is a purpose built resort for the mainly British holidaymaker's and as such is filled with British style restaurants and fast food places.  The food is good and well priced, but don’t expect authentic Greek cooking in many of the restaurants in the centre, but the further out of Faliraki square you go you will find some nice restaurants and Tavernas.

If you don’t want to travel out of Faliraki there is The Monastery, some way out of town near the Matina Hotel, which serves up authentic Greek food and is very popular with holidaymaker's and locals alike.  Another great restaurant is Sizzlers Steak bar which gets very busy during the summer, and serves up slabs of steak in a variety of sauces.
