Pefkos Holiday Guide

Just 2 km from the resort of Lindos you will find the small village of Pefkos, built in the early 80’s to provide hotels and apartments for the growing number of visitors to Lindos. The village and beach of Pefkos are lined by Pine trees and you can smell the scent of pine as you enter into the village.

The beach of Pefkos is small but sandy as it it gently shelves into the Aegean sea, the village which is mainly made up of new style hotels and apartments follows the course of the beach making it an ideal holiday destination for families, couples and veteran travellers.

Pefkos is in the perfect location in Rhodes, you have everything you need on your doorstep, from heritage sites like the Lindos Acropolis, romantic secluded coves and beaches to get away from the crowds and easy access via bus to the capital Rhodes Town.

Pefkos Daytime

The first thing you see as you enter the resort of Pefkos is the wonderful sandy beach, there is a small beach bar serving up drinks and snacks all day long. You can partake in all manner of watersports by walking up the small wooden jetty to the right of the beach. You have a choice of pedaloes, jet skis and the banana boat and donut rides.

If you want to explore your local area its only a short walk into Lindos village and thereafter you can take a donkey ride or walk up to the Acropolis. The views from the hill fortress are absolutely stunning. This resort is ideal for families and if you have children they will love exploring the ruins and playing on the beach, but if they want more you still have the Waterpark of Rhodes just down the road in Faliraki.

If you want to go bargain hunting then Pefkos has a limited number of small souvenir shops, mainly with hand crafted and woven goods including small ceramics, honey, olive oil produce including soaps and cooking oils. If your looking for more out of your souvenir shopping then you have to pay a visit to Lindos, with its exquisite ceramic shops selling all manner of goods. Look out for coloured plates with pictures of a deer which is the symbol of Rhodes island.

Pefkos Nightlife

After a long day relaxing on the beach you will be pleased to know that Pefkos is well catered for when it comes to traditional Greek restaurants. The food here is geared towards the freshly caught fish landed daily but you will always find the Greek mainstay dishes of Lamb Kleftiko, Mousakka and the likes. For those with more British tastes there are a few restaurants serving up Pizzas and more English style food, and most restaurants now have cottoned on to the money they can make with a good old English fry up.

There are only a dozen or so restaurants in Pefkos and the prices are very reasonable, but if you want to experience more of the great Greek cuisine the head for Lindos and you will find some more amazing restaurants. The prices in Lindos are slightly higher than that of Pefkos so make sure you take enough euros.

If your looking for some great entertainment and want to get away from your hotel for the night then one place is famous in Pefkos for its great hospitality and crazy nights. That place is Eclipse bar, with a great atmosphere, great cheap drinks and a small club feel, you can dance on the bar and meet some great people. If you want to try other bars within Pefkos you will find there's about another 7 or so bars all with different styles, and some offer a relaxing atmosphere where you can watch the sunset with a freshly made cocktail, try out Sunset bar for a great night out also.

If your looking for a good sports bar while out in Pefkos then try PBN bar or Pefkos By Night, it has all the latest games and also does some great food and drink. If you need internet access and cant stand to be away from facebook or updating your status then Fuse bar is what you need, with broadband internet access and a friendly atmosphere many people spend their nights relaxing here.

If you want to explore further afield than Pefkos then hire a car and get out and explore what this wonderful island has to offer or catch a local bus which run very regularly.
