Afandou Holiday Guide
The charming holiday resort of Afandou is located just 18 km
south of Rhodes town and lies just 2 km inland from the coast. The name of the village
comes from the Greek word “Afanto” which means invisible and in the past it was where
people hid from Pirates rampaging through Rhodes as you cannot see the village from
the coast.
The town of Afandou has a wealth of bars, restaurants and Taverna's and
is popular in the summer months with holidaymaker's from all over Europe. The beach
is easily reachable on the Happy Train which runs regularly from the town square
to the long pebble and sandy beach of Afandou.
