Ladiko Holiday Guide

Ladiko is but a small cove and tiny hamlet in Rhodes, but it is very popular with the locals and visitors from Italy on a yearly basis.  The actor Antony Quinn was filming the Guns of Navarone here in the early 60's and fell in love with this part of Rhodes.  So much so that actor bought this part of the island and a bay is named after him.

There are no major hotels on this part of the island, just a small handful of studios which offer everything you would need to enjoy a self catering holiday here.  The small bay of Ladiko is just 15km from Rhodes town so you can easily visit here for a nice day trip or if you do decide to stay in Ladiko its within easy access of the major towns for additional nightlife and shopping.

Below you will find a brief guide on the bay and area of Ladiko with a video and some pictures.

Ladiko - General Information

The small natural harbour and bay is a popular place to visit, especially with the locals in the height of summer, so it can get very crowded here.  There are two main bays in the area, one is Ladiko bay and the other is Anthony Quinn bay.

There is very little beach to speak of, but the area is well equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas and this is the perfect area for snorkelling and catching a glimpse of the amazing underwater life of the island.  It’s also very popular with local fisherman for its good shoals of mullet and bream.  Be aware though these fish are very hard to catch and its worth watching how the locals do it to stand any chance of even catching a decent fish.

If you've ended up empty handed from trying your luck at fishing you can always retire to the small fish Taverna which is enclosed in the bay, it cooks up some amazing grilled fish dishes from the freshly caught catch of the day, try the Octopus or Squid for a treat.

This Taverna is one of the reasons so many people come here and you can sit out the day into the early evening just chatting away enjoying a glass of local white wine.

If you want to stay here then the only place to stay is the newly built
Zoe’s studios on offer by Thomson holidays, it s brand new complex with its own pool and grassy area and sits just a short stroll from the bay.  There is a small cafe bar on site so you can keep well fed and watered and even enjoy the entertainment laid on by the owners on a nightly basis.

One benefit to staying here in Ladiko is that Faliraki is only a 10-15 minute walk away so you can go and enjoy the hectic nightlife of the area and retire to the quiet and peaceful studios too sleep of the eventual hangover.

If you want to go shopping and pick up some cheap bargains then you will have to jump in a taxi to Rhodes town where you will find the majority of fashion stores, supermarkets and local stores selling hand crafted goods.
