Top 10 Rhodes Beaches
1. Kalathos Beach - A wonderfully golden sandy beach on on the
south east coast of Rhodes just 50km from the capital. The beaches here are very
clean and the waters crystal clear. There are sunbeds and umbrellas available for
daily hire and a beach bar to quench your thirst throughout the day. This is one
of the most popular beaches in Rhodes.
2. Faliraki beach - Forget what you've herd
about Faliraki, its cleaned itself up over the pat 6 years and offers the longest
sandy beach on the island. It can get very crowded on the beach but the further
you walk down the quieter and more relaxed it gets. There is plenty going on for
the family including watersports on a daily basis, plus the beach has some wonderful
Tavernas and restaurants.
3. Tsambika Beach - Head towards the village of Kolymbari
and look out for the signs for Tsambika monastery and you will find the gorgeous
sandy beach, it has sunbeds and umbrellas for hire and the beach is very quiet with
lovely crystal clear waters and amazing views. There is a small Taverna on the beach
and watersports are available to keep the kids entertained.
4. Ladiko beach - This
beach is formed in a small cove and the temperatures here rocket in this secluded
bay, with only a handful of umbrellas and sunbeds for rent the beach never feels
too busy. The waters here are perfect for snorkelling and fishing and you can have
a very relaxing day on this beautiful beach.
5. Lindos beach - One of the most popular
beaches in Rhodes and very popular with families. The beach here is wonderfully
sandy with the clear blue Aegean lapping at the sand. Watersports are available
here for the kids and there are a few Tavernas and restaurants to keep you fed and
watered. Wonder around the corner of the bay and you will find a shallow inlet which
is perfect for snorkelling and bathing.
6. Stegna beach - A long sandy beach with
excellent views over the bay, Stegna beach is just 29km from the capital and a very
pleasant and uncrowded beach for you and your family. The beach and rocky outcrops
are perfect for fishing and snorkelling. A small amount of watersports are available
along with sunbeds and umbrellas.
7. Pefkos Beach - Just around the corner from Lindos
you will find the quiet village of Pefkos and its small sandy beach. The resort
never gets as busy as Lindos and the beach is lined with family Tavernas, cafes and
small supermarkets. The perfect beach for a family day out and umbrellas and sunbeds
are always available for hire.
8. Anthony Quinn beach - In the same area of Ladiko
you will find the smallest stretch of beach, with gently shelving sands the small
bay is strewn with massive rocks and pools, its a wonderful area enjoyed by the locals
and visitors alike. This area is dotted with romantic coves and small bays and each
larger cove has a small fish Taverna from which you will find the best grilled fish
on the island.
9. Ixia beach - A mainly pebbly and shingle beach situated on the west
of the island not far from the capital. Due to the high winds which attack the west
coastline daily, especially around the hours of 6-8PM you will find this beach perfect
for windsurfing and kite surfing. The beach of Ixia is a mecca for surfers from
around the globe and locally and is great if you have older children who want to
try windsurfing for the first time.
10. Faliraki Nudist Beach - One of the few organised
nudist beaches on the island with sunbeds and umbrellas, it sits south of the main
town of Faliraki and is a very popular little beach. Mainly sand and light shingle
with sandy and rocky outcrops in the bay. Perfect for those who want to go natural
on their holidays.
