Rhodes is a magnificent holiday destination for couples, families and singles due to its variety of resorts that cater for everyone's tastes.  It has some of the best beaches in Greece and is close to Marmaris in Turkey if you want to go island hopping and shopping.

If you choose to holiday in Rhodes then you will be spoilt for choice with rolling pine forests, sun drenched olive groves, cobbled winding alleyways and streets leading you in every which direction.

You can start your holiday by flying into Rhodes International Airport, or Diagoras International Airport (RHO)  Its 14km from the medieval capital Rhodes Town where you will find a wealth of historic sights including Mandraki Harbour where the Colossus once stood, the Palace of the Grandmaster of Knights, Municipal Art Gallery and of course the old and new town where you will find a wealth of shops to explore.

Moving further down the coast from the capital you will find a wealth of different resorts the suit all tastes with the all inclusive resort of Ixia where you will find the most all inclusive hotels and a beach perfect for windsurfing and sailing.

On the other side of the side of the island you will find the resorts of Kalithea famous for its old Roman baths, further down is the non stop party resort of Faliraki where you will find a club or pub that plays music for everyone's ears.

If a clubbing holiday its not to your tastes then Rhodes still has plenty more to choose from.  Further down you will find the hillside town of
Lindos with its winding alleyways and amazing restaurants and views over the Acropolis.  This area has some wonderful sandy beaches and one of our favourites has to be the beaches of Pefkos and Kolymbia.

Rhodes Weather

The small island of Rhodes is just off the Turkish mainland and it gets most of its weather too. With the warmer weather normally starting in mid April and running until late October.  The hottest temperatures are in July and August with the average being around 38°C and all other times its sits at a more comfortable 20-25°C.

Sights to see in Rhodes
Historic sights and more

The sun drenched holiday island of Rhodes is perfect for sightseeing and exploring and there is so much to do that you will struggle to fit it all into your fortnights holiday.

The medieval town of Rhodes has most of the major sights in Rhodes and the first one we would recommend making sure you visit the Old Town of Rhodes and the Palace of The Grand Master Knights, the Rhodes Municipal Art Gallery and the historic harbour of Mandraki.

Another great sight and very popular with visitors to Rhodes all year round has to be the Lindos Acropolis and Rhodes Acropolis.  The acropolis on Lindos have history dating back before Christ and they have been reconstructed to show how they would of looked at the time.

If you want to get away from it all on holiday then try visiting the wonderful area of Tsambika where you will find some stunning beaches which are normally very quiet and not at all overpopulated.  If you want to keep active try hiking to Tsambika Monastery which holds a very important place in the hearts of the locals.

If you want somewhere to take the kids to keep them entertained then you must visit the Valley of the Butterflies which needs no explanation.  There is also Rodini Park which was one of the worlds first Nature Reserves built by the Roman Empire when they occupied the island.

And finally a children's holiday favourite has to be the huge Waterpark in Faliraki and there are local buses going there on a daily basis.
